week 4 blog literacy week


What?  this week was literacy week. My favourite part was when we did dress up day. I didn't dress up so i come in uniform. it was quite boring so i said i was the disguised man.



So what? What I liked about literacy week was stop drop and writing.

Swimming

 WHAT?

IALT: develop my swimming skills

SO WHAT?

I learned how to do backstroke, freestyle and the worm.
I learned how to use the correct breathing technique.

NOW WHAT?

I want to get better at backstroke because my head just sinks and I can't breathe.

Word Study - Blog 1 term 3

What?
I am learning to understand how words are formed using roots, prefixes and suffixes.

So What?
I have learned that words that have the root hydra- and aqua- mean water. For example dehydrate is when you lose much water and salt.

I have learned that words that have the root spect- mean look / see. For example spectator is a person that watches someone or something.

Now what?
I feel that I have a good understanding of the root words aqua-, hydra-, and spect-.

Student Led Conference

WHAT?

I did a student led conference with my dad

SO WHAT?

I shared my maths, writing, reading and art and my CARE.
I was proud of how I was using paragraphs at the right time. I was proud of sharing my maths strategies.

NOW WHAT?

I want to get better at maths so I can solve the problems quicker.
I want to get better at spelling.

WHAT?
This week I am reflecting on one of my writing goals

IALT: Improve my writing by learning how to:

* use a variety of sentence starters

This week I have been focusing on how to write a drop-in clause

SO WHAT?
Here is an example of a drop-in clause

Mr Forman is our teacher.
He loves his red car.
Mr Forman, who is our teacher, loves his red car.

Mr Forman is the subject of the sentence.
We change ‘He’ to ‘who’
We place commas around the clause we ‘drop-in’

MY EXAMPLES:
Here are two examples of a drop-in clause that I have created.
[1] Blake, who has a fluffy yellow chicken, is awesome.
[2]

NOW WHAT?
I rate my understanding level at 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
My confidence level with using these types of sentences independently in my writing is

Life Education

WHAT?

We have been learning ' What does your body need to stay happy and heathy?'. As part of this the Life Education truck came to school.

SO WHAT?

I learned that there are many different names for sugar and that many foods and drink added like sugar. Mint treat biscuits has a high amount of sugar.

It is important to have a balanced diet.

NOW WHAT?

I am going to start looking at the nutritional information guide to see if a food has less that 10gm of sugar. Because I would like to have a healthy diet.

Multicultural Week

WHAT?

Last week Oaklands school has a multi- cultural week where we celebrated the amazing range of cultures we have here.

SO WHAT?

We learned about other people's cultures. It was really fun. I made a flag of South Korea with Samuel. We also produced a poster about South Korea.

NOW WHAT?

We are going to be leanring more about the different cultures in Room 24 this tarm
includin ghealthy  snacks.

My Reading blog

Boys V Beast

WHAT?

This is the book I have just finished reading as part of my reading goal which  is to be able to read for longer periods of time and retain meaning.

SO WHAT?

I liked how there were every kind of land. Some would be fire, water, ice and wind. Sometimes the beast would rise up out of the volcano and the volcano pieces would burst everywhere. I like it how sometimes they have special abilities.

NOW WHAT?

My goal is also to read a variety of genre. This book was a science fiction / fantasy genre. The next genre I am going to read is non-fiction.
